Vertica-Care – It’s not all about rest.
There is no doubt that rest is the key to recovery, and you certainly get plenty of rest in a Stiegelmeyer bed. But no matter how restful the bed, some patients need to get active early on in the recovery process. And sometimes this needs more than a little assistance from care staff, and tremendous effort on the part of the patient.

We understand about STANDING UP.
In our view, mobilisation means encouraging patients to get active – without overtaxing them – or for that matter the care staff, who shouldn’t be subjected to undue physical strain.
So we thought, instead of heaving the patient awkwardly over the edge of the bed and into a standing position, why don’t we just move the patient and his bed into an upright position?
Function overview:
STANDING UP made easy.
The Vertica-Care mimics the natural sequence of movements to gently lift the patient from a prone to a sitting position, and from there to an upright position.
Smooth STANDING-UP PROCESS.
The bed is designed to lift the patient into a standing position in a smooth and continuous movement, which can of course be interrupted at any time to allow carers to administer to the patient's needs. So patient activation starts off very gently – and can be stopped at any time.
Sitting up sooner.
In the Vertica-Care patients can assume a genuine sitting position, which enables them to take meals or receive visitors in comfort. Furthermore, this brings them to the same eye-level as other people, which is good for their self-esteem. Ultimately, independence and freedom of movement stimulate our feeling of wellbeing and help the recovery process.
Optimum ERGONOMIC size
The head- and footboards are fully removable.
When the back rest is adjusted to an angle of almost 90°, the seat is reduced to an optimum ergonomic size.
SAFE as safe can be.
There are basically two types of safety: engineered and perceived safety. For example patients who are particularly weak will feel safer because the table* prevents them from falling forwards*.
Additional SAFETY.
Grab handles on the mobilisation supports provide additional safety and can be swivelled out of the way to save space.
FLEXIBLE adjustment.
The mobilisation supports can be repositioned in a number of ways to ensure that they are always within easy reach of the patient.
Feet FIRMLY on the ground.
The lower leg rest can be retracted to create a comfortable sitting position and give the patient the reassurance of having his feet firmly on the ground.
MultiFlex
The MultiFlex side rail system needs no instructions. Right from the start, care staff intuitively perform each step correctly to ensure that the patient feels secure from the outset.
USER-FRIENDLY.
You can fold away the MultiFlex side rails with the same minimal effort that was required to position them in the first place.
PATIENT key pad.
The patient can use the key pad to control all the functions of a fully motorised and well-equipped care bed.
CARER key pad.
The entire standing-up process should be performed only under supervision and initiated only by care staff. The same applies to emergency positions, which can be activated from any bed position at any time.
EXTENDING the mobilisation supports.
Extending the mobilisation supports to lengthen the bed.
STABLE mobilisation supports.
People are only willing to use technical devices if they are user-friendly: Conversely, if a device is difficult to use, people will eventually stop using it. So we have designed stable mobilisation supports that can be positioned easily using just one hand.
Unimpeded STANDING.
The grab handle on the mobilisation support can be moved aside if more space is required for the patient to stand up unimpeded.
Good MANOEUVRABILITY.
The Vertica-Care is highly manoeuvrable due to its short wheelbase. It also features automatically telescoping support wheels for anti-tipping stability.
Highly MANOEUVRABLE.
The short wheelbase makes the bed very easy to turn, which greatly facilitates everyday tasks.
