Data protection statement – Your data in safe hands.

I. Consent

By entering your personal and business-related data on the Stiegelmeyer Group’s web pages at the URL http://www.stiegelmeyer-gruppe.de, you give your personal consent to the operating company to use your data to process your enquiry as well as for the additional purposes outlined below. You may withdraw your consent in writing at any time with future effect.

II. General principles

1. Data protection rights

We take great care to ensure that your data is protected. To this end we operate an active data protection policy to ensure that all personal data is treated confidentially. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will use the personal data we have collected from you in strict accordance with the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz or BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz or TMG). This data protection statement explains in terms of these provisions which user-related and non-user-related data gathered during your visit to our website is collected and how this data is processed and used. However, this statement does not apply to companies that are linked to the website of the http://www.stiegelmeyer-gruppe.de.

Where our website refers to third parties, we would like to point out that the operating company has no control over the content of those sites and as such, we cannot extend the guarantees of this data protection statement to include those sites.

III. Data collection and processing during your visit to our website

1. What non-user-related data does Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH collect when you visit our site?

Every time a user accesses one of our web pages, i.e. every time a file is requested or an attempt is made to request a file from this server, data documenting this process is stored in a log file. This data is non-user-related; therefore we cannot normally determine which user has retrieved what data, and furthermore, we would not attempt to do so.

a) The following data record is saved for each request:

  • IP address (possibly personal)
  • Name of retrieved file
  • Date and time of retrieval
  • Quantity of data transferred
  • Report as to whether retrieval was successful
  • Report as to why a retrieval may have failed
  • The name of your internet service provider
  • Browser information (e.g. type of browser, screen resolution)
  • Operating system
  • Website from which you found us.

b) Use of tracking software

We use Piwik tracking software (www.piwik.org) to record and analyse user activity on our website. IP addresses are stored anonymously; i.e. the last two octets are set to 0. This means that the data collected cannot be traced to a particular individual. Tracking software is used only to adapt the website to current technical requirements and optimise the Internet service for the user’s benefit. Passing on of information to third parties is impossible..

c) How does the Stiegelmeyer Group use the non-user-related data that it collects?

We analyse all the data listed above solely for our own statistical purposes. We use this data to make our website better and even safer for you.

2. What user-related data does Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH collect when you visit our website?

Your personal data (e.g. name, address, contact details) is sent to a central email address via an online form (contact form or application form), where it is read and analysed by our service staff. User-related data is temporarily stored in an email inbox whilst awaiting further processing, and deleted once it has been processed. Applicant data is generally stored by us in a special archive (applicant pool), from where it can be deleted at the applicant's request. This user-related data is used only for contacting you or responding to your enquiry. We do not use this data for advertising or market research purposes.

As much as we make every effort to ensure that your data is protected in compliance with relevant data protection legislation, no electronic communication is completely secure. Please be aware that, despite our best efforts, any personal information that you disclose over the Internet may be used by others. Accordingly, we cannot be held responsible or liable for the disclosure of information due to data-transmission errors and/or unauthorised third-party access.

IV. Cookies

The operator currently uses temporary cookies to make Internet services more customer-friendly, efficient and safer. These session cookies are deleted when you leave the site.

V. Data use in the application management system

1. Application-related data

The responses and information that you provide during an online application are stored along with your name for up to three months after completion of the application process. After this time we continue to store the results anonymously (i.e. without specifying your name) for further statistical analysis. This statistical data record does not allow any inference about the actual individual concerned and serves solely as a basis for statistical evaluations.

2. Transferring application data

In order for you to participate in a selection process for a job application through this careers portal, your personal information must be forwarded to Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH. Data required for the selection process is collected from the fields marked as mandatory. Other fields provide you with the opportunity to add additional data and documentation that you consider relevant or helpful.

3. Limitations on use and disclosure of personal information

Within Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH only employees who have direct involvement in the selection process are allowed access to your data. Your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties. If you are appointed, your data will be forwarded to the relevant HR department. If you are not appointed, any personal information in your application will be deleted in full immediately after the selection process. We retain only data which contains no personal references for statistical and documentary purposes.

4. Data protection and communication

Your application data are protected by SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer). Please use the message area of the careers portal for all online communication with us, as this will ensure that your messages are securely transmitted. Your personal data is automatically encrypted during transference to Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH. The measures that we take to protect your personal data comply with the best available technology at all times.
If you choose email as your preferred method of communication on the application form, you will receive messages in the form of unencrypted emails sent to the personal email address provided by you. Please avoid using a shared family address or a public address in an Internet cafe. In your own interests we ask you to ensure that you alone have access to this email address.

5. Applications for specific positions (direct applications)

If you have applied for a specific position, your personal data will be made available to the relevant department advertising the position and to the respective HR department.

6. Speculative applications

If you have submitted a speculative application by registering with Joh. Stiegelmeyer & Co. GmbH, your data will be made available to all departments and associated HR departments that have positions available which match your application profile. Data from your speculative application will be deleted after six months if the email request to extend the retention period is not confirmed.

7. Recognition of applicants that have been rejected previously

If your application is unsuccessful, we will store a recognition data record. We need this record in order to recognise you should you reapply for the position. All your qualification details will have been deleted from this data record. The recognition data record contains the following information: last name, first name, date of birth, email address, and applicant number. The recognition data record will be permanently deleted after 365 days, or after 180 days in the case of applicants for apprenticeships.

VI. Geolocation

The Stiegelmeyer website uses the geolocation API to post specific regional offers on the website.

When you visit the website, your browser will display a notification bar to request access to your geolocation data.
The request gives the user the following options:

Allow once: a notification bar will be displayed again the next time you visit the site.
“Allow always” or “block always”. Internet Explorer remembers the user's choice so that the notification bar will not be displayed again.

The notification blocks further processes until the user has made a choice so as to prevent the website determining the location before the user has responded.

Revoking consent

If you have given permanent consent for our website to access your location, you may revoke this consent at any time.

Firefox: Open the “Page Info” dialogue box in the “Tools” menu. In “Permissions” check the appropriate option under “Share Location”.

Internet Explorer 9: Open the “Internet options” dialogue box in the “Tools” menu. Check the relevant option under “Location” in the “Privacy” tab.

If the visitor to the website revokes consent to geolocation or if an older version of the browser is used, the website will try to determine your location using your IP address. This is only a very approximate process and the estimated location may differ considerably from the user's actual location.

VII. Data sharing

We do not disclose your personal data to third parties unless required to do so under statutory provisions or judicial order. In particular we do not sell, rent or exchange your personal data.

VIII. Information and other rights, contact

Upon written request, our data protection officer will gladly inform you as to whether we have retained any of your personal data, and if so, which. Should your personal data be incorrect, you will be able to have it rectified immediately. Naturally there will be no charge for any amendments or additions.

Furthermore, you are entitled to partially or completely revoke your consent to the use of your data at any time in the future. Should you wish to do so, we will delete or block your data accordingly.

To assert these rights, please contact the data protection officer at dataprotection@stiegelmeyer-gruppe.de.
